Highlights of 2018


December 2018 - Formed a partnership with University of Maryland, Department of Health Science on a Research Project around Domestic Violence

December 2018 - Held our 1st Women's Speed Networking Breakfast

November 2018 - Held an information session in partnership with Southern Maryland Top Ladies of Distinction and their Top Teens program to offer database design programming for teens and Nonprofits

November 2018 - Hosted a Social Media & Marketing Event for Business Owners

November 2018 - Four PFCC Members served on the County Executive Transition Team for Public Engagement, Technology, Public Safety, and Housing

October 2018 - Attended the Annual Governor's Grants Training Conference

October 2018 - Attended the Cities for Financial Empowerment (CFE) Fund Conference in New York to learn about opportunities to bring a Bank On Campaign to Prince George's County

October 2018 - Won a grant from Rural Maryland Council and train 30 teens and design 9 databases for Nonprofits in Southern Maryland in partnership with the Southern Maryland Top Ladies of Distinction and their Top Teens

October 2018 - Participated in the 1st Annual All Faiths United Prayer Breakfast in partnership with Pastor Charles McNeil, President, National Capital Baptist Convention and County Executive Elect Angela Alsobrooks

September 2018 - Hosted the Director of the Maryland Governor's Grant Office to discuss State Grant Resources and how to navigate the state website

September 2018 - Held a Minority Business Roundtable with Delegate Jazz Lewis to: (1) provide input for state bills that will improve the procurement process for minority businesses (2) find out where are the Opportunity Zones in the State of Maryland and how to take advantage of them; and (3) learn about boards and commissions at the Maryland Department of Commerce

August 2018 - Hosted Finding Resources for Your Grants in partnership with the Enoch Pratt Library

July 2018 - Participated in the USDA Senior Executive Leadership Program - evaluated and rated applicants for acceptance in the program

July 2018 - Attended the US Black Chamber 2018 Annual Conference at the National Harbor. This was an opportunity for the PFC Coalition to attend workshops, build strategic partnerships other chambers, and look at ways to help grow black businesses

May 2018 - Hosted a Minority Business Mixer with candidate Angela Alsobrooks to hear some of the concerns of our Minority Businesses in the County

April 2018 - Held the PFCC 5th Annual Nonprofit Conference "Get Ready - Tools for Success"

April 2018 - Attended the (NCRC) Annual Conference to gain knowledge on how to build wealth in our communities

March 2018 - Held out 1st Annual Domestic Violence Town Hall to bring together service providers, nonprofits and the faith-based community to address domestic violence outreach, education and funding strategies

March 2018 - Held our 1st Annual Nonprofit Town hall - Claiming our Nonprofits

February 2018 - Hosted a series of Black Chamber Planning Meetings - Feb 2018 - September 2018 on partnership with members of the boards of the US Black Chamber, DC, Baltimore, and Northern VA Black Chambers

January 2018 - Formed the Coalition for Women Against Domestic Violence and Abuse (COWADVA)

•Hosted 10 workshops on How to Start a Nonprofit

•Hosted 14 Grant Workshops
